George Farag is an Egyptian-born immigrant, former U.S. diplomat, and founder of SLS Mobility Management. His work spans immigration, consular operations, and crisis response across the Middle East.

He arrived in Jersey City on Halloween night in 1986, at age 11, with his mother and younger brother. The family relied for a time on public assistance. He attended Jersey City public schools and Academic High School before earning a Garden State Scholarship to The College of New Jersey. A public-service fellowship later took him to graduate school at Syracuse University.

Three weeks after September 11, 2001, Farag sat for the U.S. Foreign Service examination. He subsequently served at U.S. missions around the Middle East, including Iraq and Lebanon. In Najaf, Iraq, in 2003–2004, he worked on governance during the American-led occupation. In Beirut in 2006, he helped coordinate the evacuation of more than 15,000 Americans during the war between Israel and Hezbollah, serving as the only Arabic-speaking U.S. consul.

In 2013, he founded Silverline Strategies, now operating as SLS Mobility Management. The firm helps government and corporate partners deploy personnel, establish secure operations, and maintain continuity in complex and high-risk environments.

Farag is the author of Pro-American Immigration: Common Ground in Our Immigration Strategy. His writing has appeared in the Washington Post, the Financial Times, the New York Daily News, the National Law Review, and the Jersey City Times.

He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology and earned an M.P.A. and an M.A. in international relations at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School. His honors include the U.S. Department of State Superior Honor Award, the Maxwell School’s Spirit of Public Service Award, and the Jersey City Rotary Award.
